Frequently asked questions about TaskBlue
Everything on ocean impact, focus modes, the Blue Tag, pricing and privacy, answered clearly and directly.
Ocean Impact & Marine Protection
How does TaskBlue save the ocean?
A portion of your TaskBlue subscription goes directly to established marine protection partners like the WWF and GhostNetZero, who recover plastic and ghost nets from the ocean. Every focused minute on your iPhone funds this recovery work. Your personal ocean impact, measured in kilograms of plastic removed from the sea, is visible in real time inside the app.
Which partner organizations does TaskBlue work with?
TaskBlue works with established marine conservation NGOs, primarily the WWF and GhostNetZero. Partners recover plastic and ghost nets from the ocean, along coastlines and in open water. That is the direct impact mechanism behind every focus session.
How much plastic does one hour of focus remove from the sea?
Per focus hour, about 167 g of plastic are removed from the sea, up to 10 kg per month. You see the exact value live in the app. Your ocean impact grows with every focused minute.
Can I share my ocean impact with others?
Yes. In the app you can share your personal ocean impact progress as an image, on Instagram, WhatsApp or in private chats. You make visible how much plastic your focus has already removed from the sea.
Why is ocean impact better than just using a focus app?
Because your productive time then has double value: you become more productive AND the world gets better. Focused time without purpose is just time. Focused time with impact is change.
TaskBlue Basics
What is TaskBlue?
TaskBlue is the first focus app where every minute of focus on your iPhone removes plastic from the sea. A portion of every subscription funds the recovery of marine plastic through partners like the WWF and GhostNetZero. TaskBlue isn't another anti-phone app, it's productivity with purpose.
How does TaskBlue work?
You activate focus mode in four ways: manually (3-second press), by schedule, via calendar integration, or location-based. Distracting apps disappear completely from your iPhone home screen. With the optional Blue Tag (NFC), you end focus via scan.
Which devices is TaskBlue available on?
TaskBlue is currently available for iPhone (iOS 16 and newer). An Android version is planned based on demand.
Where can I download TaskBlue?
Free in the Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/quikr/id6754511784, search for “TaskBlue”.
Do I need a subscription to use TaskBlue?
You can download TaskBlue for free and try basic features. For full focus impact, including the ocean impact contribution, you need a subscription: €4.99/month or €39.99/year.
Focus Modes
Which focus modes does TaskBlue offer?
Four: Manual focus (3-second press), schedule focus (recurring), calendar focus (automatic before events), location focus (based on place). All hide distracting apps completely from the home screen.
How does manual focus work?
Press the focus circle in the app for 3 seconds. Focus starts immediately, your selected apps disappear from the iPhone home screen. You end it via Blue Tag or verified exit.
How does calendar focus work?
Connect your Apple Calendar. TaskBlue detects each event and automatically activates focus before departure, so you're never late again. For each event, you set individually how long beforehand focus starts.
What is Location Focus?
Save places like office, library, university or gym. When you arrive, TaskBlue automatically activates focus. When you leave, apps return. Zero effort, 100% automatic.
Can I repeat focus schedules?
Yes. Create recurring focus times, daily, weekly, or on specific days. Ideal for daily learning or deep work routines.
Blue Tag (NFC)
What is the Blue Tag?
The Blue Tag is an optional NFC key that sits outside your iPhone. It's a physical barrier that ends focus mode only via scan. One-time price: €4.90.
Do I need the Blue Tag?
No. The TaskBlue app works completely without hardware. The Blue Tag is an add-on that significantly increases success rate, because the key physically sits outside the phone.
Does the Blue Tag have a battery?
No. The Blue Tag is completely passive, lasts forever, and never needs charging. NFC requires no power on the key side.
How is the Blue Tag manufactured?
Every Blue Tag is 3D-printed in Berlin from plant-based plastic (PLA), hand-assembled and packed ourselves. No outsourcing, short shipping routes, sustainable production matching the mission.
What happens if I lose my Blue Tag?
Three emergency exits are available. You're never stuck in focus. But the bar is intentionally high, so distractions are actually blocked.
Pricing & Subscription
What does TaskBlue cost?
€4.99/month or €39.99/year (save 32%). The optional Blue Tag costs €4.90 one-time. Download and basic features are free.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel directly in iPhone Settings under Apple ID › Subscriptions. Or via “Manage subscription” in TaskBlue's confirmation email.
How much of the subscription goes to ocean impact?
A fixed share of every subscription directly funds the recovery of ocean plastic through partners like the WWF and GhostNetZero. Details and current numbers are on our ocean impact page.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. You can download the app for free and use basic features before subscribing.
TaskBlue vs. other apps
How does TaskBlue differ from iOS Screen Time?
iOS Screen Time can be bypassed on the device itself, the key lives in the device. With TaskBlue, the key sits outside (Blue Tag or verified exit), apps disappear completely, and every focus minute funds marine protection.
What makes TaskBlue better than Opal, One Sec, or Freedom?
None of the mentioned apps connect focus with real environmental impact. TaskBlue is the only focus app where your productive time directly funds the removal of ocean plastic. Plus: physical NFC key instead of just software lock.
Is TaskBlue only for people with phone addiction?
No. TaskBlue is for everyone who wants to be more productive AND have environmental impact. Students, professionals, parents, people with ADHD, sustainability-minded iPhone users. The question isn't “phone addiction”, it's “what should happen with my focused time?”.
Sustainability
How sustainable is TaskBlue?
TaskBlue is thoughtfully sustainable: digital part with direct ocean impact (recovering marine plastic from the sea), physical Blue Tag from plant-based PLA, 3D-printed in Berlin, hand-assembled, short shipping routes.
Why 3D printing instead of mass production?
On-demand 3D printing means: no overproduction, no manufacturing in Asia, no container shipping. Each Blue Tag is printed exactly when you order it.
